Kala Pradarshini was launched in the year 1998 with the noble objective to promote Indian culture and performing arts. With the overall guidance of its patron Hon’ble Justice K.S. Bakthavatsalam, a noted jurist and a celebrated connoisseur of arts and music.

The broad spectrum of our activities encompasses Dance & Music coaching, Productions, organizing Music & Dance festivals and other events like seminars, lecture demonstrations incidental to promotion and propagation of Indian art forms.
         

INSTITUTION

Parvathi’s quest for excellence resulted in Kala Pradarshini, a dance school established to nourish youth, hone the talent of budding artists towards the sublime heights of BharathaNatyam.

The school has grown in number and in talent, training dancers from across seas as well. Teaching every student personally Parvathi’s forte and mission, She believes that the individual attention she gives a student allows her to take each child by the hand reveal to her the mystique beauty of this divine form. Several students have performed their arrangetrams under her able guidance.

The curriculum includes regular workshops, summer camps, Yoga, Vocal, Konnakol, Crafts, Vedic heritages classes for the benefit of students, which is the nucleus of our existence and mission to promote, propagate and permeate Indian art and culture in our society.

The institution celebrates its anniversary, every year, which facilitates all the students of Kala Pradarshini to participate. This helps them overcome their stage fear and become a more confident and professional.

Besides the said school we are also engaged in the production of theme based dance ballets and organizing cultural shows and events to promote and support the artists who have chosen this divine field of performing art as the soul and substance of their life. Versatility, talent and inspiration rarely find a home together.  And when they do, they form an artist of caliber that can be neither measured nor expressed.

MONTHLY PROGRAMME

Living by its name Kala Pradarshini has been showcasing the potential of talented youngsters as well as presenting a galaxy of eminent artists in its monthly music and dance programs for the past several years to explore and promote creative talent and popularize Indian art forms besides Bharathanatyam eminent exponents in Odissi, Sattriya, Kathak, Mohini Attam have been performed in our programs.

ANNUAL DANCE EXTRAVAGANZA- PANCHA RATHNA KRITHIS

Paying tribute through dance to the great legend of Carnatic Music Saint Thyagaraja. Kala Pradarshini in collaboration with other major organizations namely Bhrama Gana Sabha and Bharthiya Vidya Bhavan (Chennai Kendra) has been organizing a ANNUAL DANCE EXTRAVAGANZA- PANCHA RATHNA KRITHI. The event is marked by the presence of five different Bharathanatyam exponents of repute in mellifluous confluence of noted musicians. Music and dance connoisseurs of the city enthusiastically await this annual event.

NRITTA MAKARANDAM- 3 day dance seminar

Kala Pradarshini under the guidance of a senior Bharathanatyam artist and critic Mrs. Nandhini Ramani organizes annually a three day dance seminar titled Nritta Makarandam where senior artists, exponents and experts of various dance forms like Bharathanatyam, Odissi, Sattriya, Kathak, Mohini Attam etc hone the skill and creative exposition of budding and upcoming artists.
