“Aindhamudhu”, a small speck in a mighty ocean is a tribute to the 5 great epics- Aimperum Kappiyam– Seevaka Chintamani, Kundalakesi, Valaiyapathi, Silapadhikaram and Manimekala. These literary works are an invaluable source that brings to forefront the Tamizh culture.
Presented by Kalaimamani Smt. Parvati Ravi Ghantasala and her students, Aindhamudhu is a compilation of selected verses from these epics woven together in a classical dance form.
PRESS Excerpts
Tamil epics well – choreographed
The epics were adapted to the dance form by the Parvathi Ravi Ghantasala and her talented colleagues. The lavishness of scene, purposeful delineation and delicacy helped to open the doors of aesthetic perception with the dancers interpreting the stories with restraint and delicacy.
While Parvati was well supported by her troupe, her own contribution was substantial as her artistic projections were enchanting. Her style was an attitude imposed on technique and as such could be enjoyed by the connoisseur and the layman. Her portrayal of Kannagi, the outraged wife, was a high voltage performance.
